Pete says that the screenshots come from an “unfamiliar source” but Mashable has shared them anyway to get feedback on the shots and hoping that Google will soon release some captures of its upcoming Chrome Operating System.

A long time ago I listed a few web-based tools to check a web page size and why it matter for SEO. Today I am reviewing a great FireFox addon that is a must-have for a web developer and may be quite useful for an SEO consultant.
View Dependencies is a FireFox addon that adds a tab to the page info window containing all the files which were loaded to show the current page: Install the addon and restart your browser; Load any page and right-click on it to se the context menu; Choose "Page info" Choose "View Dependencies" tab:

To make it even better, the addon offers more additional goodies: The ad...

  • Obama White House Announces Internet Team
The Obama charge has revolutionized the way the White House, and political campaigns for that manner, use the Internet and social media as an open communications device between the Executive branch and the citizens of the United States. The White House has already launched its Weekly Video Address with President Obama and Recovery.gov, which will track stimulus spending; and now has officially named its Internet team with ex-Google executives and members of the Obama campaign staff. CNet...
  • Cross-Linking Is Dead As A Doornail
I feel like I can finally put a nail in the coffin of cross-linking websites. Let me be specific, cross-linked, thematically unrelated links appear to push little or no value to other websites. In fact, it’s fair to say excessive cross-linking surely hurts in Yahoo and is very much devalued in Google. Google, as always, seems to be adding to the “don’t” list as far as linking goes. I don’t really care about the fact cross-links aren’t working anymore. All it affects is the...
  • Hanging Out At Established Places
Do You Know the Way to SES San Jose? In 2009, Google places a lot of trust in authority. Authority, in terms of ranking, typically means "an established site with a high number of inbound links from authoritative sources". Ranking might also have something to do with popularity. And the usage patterns on your site. And various other signals of "establishment" known only to the Google alchemists. Whatever way you look at it, a new is difficult to get ranked in...
  • How to get Traffic from Social Bookmarking sites
Sites like , , etc can bring you a LOT of traffic. How about getting 20,000 and more visitors a day when your listing hits the front page? Getting to the front page of is not as difficult as it seems. I have been rich with digg and del.icio.us (and not so much with Reddit though the same steps should apply to it as well) multiple times and have thus compiled a list of steps that have helped me succeed: 1Pay attention to your Headlines Many great articles go unnoticed on social...
  • Google Issues $2 Apps Credit After GMail Outage
Google is apologizing for the major 12 to 15 hour GMail outage which occured Monday night with a 15 day credit for businesses or organizations which pay for Google Apps services. At $50 annually per user, that 15 day credit is worth about $2 per Google Apps user for these companies. Sure, perhaps a mall drop in the bucket, but the real value here is that if Google is going ot branch out into the desktop / mobile / iPhone / online & offline qualified alternate to Outlook or Office,...
  • Is Google Getting Too Pushy with Search Suggestions and Modifications?
A great WebmasterWorld thread discusses the Google search opinion evolution. The fact is, Google considers itself to know much better what the surfer wants. Even advanced search operators no more help to find results Google considers to be incorrect. The chat evolves around Google splitting the words apart even when the user does want to search then spelled as one word but the same can be applied to many more cases. I also am quite frustrated at times with the “we guessed your...
  • Re-Enter: The Competitive Analysis!
When I was in middle-school, comic books were AWESOME. Looking back, I notice now that in nearly every comic book, in due course there was the villain that could take everybody’s powers and use them as his or her own. The uncanny X-Men battled the aptly-named Mimic; the Avengers and the Fantastic Four both took a shot at the extra-terrestrial, mega-warrior called the Super Skrull; and more currently the TV show Heroes has a creepy fellow who can do more of the same thing. The list...
